About

I’m your average traveler.
Well, maybe not so average… I fly pretty frequently. I'm happy when I get a good seat, frustrated when flights are delayed, and am very much appreciative of Southwest Airlines' bags-fly-free policy. I am blessed to live the life I'm living.

I have this blog because I have stories to tell, people to meet and places to visit. I’d like to share my experiences with whoever stops by!

NOTE: I am not affiliated with Southwest Airlines, I just
happen to fly them.
A lot.

Flight 672, 1536, 1568

DAL - ELP 1/20

I was so excited to fly home and see my hubs this weekend - It had been 9 days since I left Phoenix and temporarily moved to Dallas. The flight in was great - although I did learn that I prefer a stop where I have to change planes so that I can get up and walk around. On this flight, there was no plane change and I began to felt claustrophobic/antsy towards the end of the flight.

I sat next to a super nice guy who also works at HDQ. We chatted back and fourth about aviation and the company.

ELP - PHX

There were so few people on this flight that we all got our own rows. The guy that was sitting next to me ended up moving to the row across from me and laid down on the seats like it was a bed. I gotta learn to do that… Especially since these flights home every weekend will be 4 hours! I was so happy to have landed in Phoenix that I started crying when I saw my guy’s car pulling up. I hope we never have to go that long again without seeing each other!

PHX - ABQ 1/22

After getting in to Phoenix at 11pm on Friday, I was awake at 5am Sunday morning to catch the first flight out. The guy that was on my flight out on Friday ended up being on my flights home this morning! Needless to say, at 5am, I felt like a zombie… and quite frankly, as soon as I got on the plane to ABQ, I passed out. I woke up when we began our bumpy descent.

ABQ - DAL

We had an hour layover in ABQ, which wasn’t all that bad because I was able to walk around a bit. When we got on the plane, I was pretty surprised to see that the only available aisle was the last row of the aircraft. I do remember it being super bumpy on takeoff and super bumpy on the landing. It’s a good thing I got out of Phoenix early today, because I’ve heard there have been some delays all throughout Texas.

Hope you guys had a great weekend!

I got to tour this new airplane today! It has two additional rows (one on each side of the aircraft). It was so cool - and yes, the seats are still comfortable!

I went to the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas today. It was so awesome - I’d love to spend more time there… and I most definitely will because I get in for free!

Flight 1272, 37 1/12

It’s official, I moved to Dallas! Well, less “move” and more “am living in” since most of my stuff is still in Phoenix.

PHX - ABQ

It was difficult to leave Phoenix, since it is my home. I had no problem getting out to Albuquerque. I had to laugh - at the beginning of the flight, about half way through when the flight attendant was giving the safety announcement, the pilot started talking out of no where. It was pretty funny to see the confusion. The flight was smooth - I tried napping but I had a million things going on in my mind. Slightly bumpy landing when we arrived - which is exactly what I remember when I used to live there.

ABQ - DAL

I met my mom and sister at the airport (they came in from Las Vegas). We all caught a flight to Dallas. I got a lower boarding pass letter/number so i got on the plane before them - but there wasn’t a full aisle available so I asked a gal to save two seats and I sat on the aisle seat behind her. When my mom and sister finally got on the plane, the lady realized that we were together and offered to switch me seats so the three of us could sit together… that was super nice of her! The flight went out completely full - 137 people - we got super lucky! The three of us chatted during the flight and landed smoothly in Dallas.

I start my internship with Southwest on Tuesday… Wish me luck! :)

Flight 251, 2391

PHX - LAS 1/10

I did a quick roundtrip flight yesterday. I had a couple doctor’s appointments so I was only in Vegas for a few hours. The flight was nice… although the lading sitting next to me… ugh… I’ll explain…. I was the first to sit down, she came and sat on the aisle seat… no big deal. Then she decided that the middle seat, middle seat back cover and the space under the middle seat was all her space to take. She put her bags under the middle seat, put her drink and book in the middle seat back cover and then put her purse and jacket on the middle seat. Like, seriously? The middle seat, if empty, should be equally shared space between the window and aisle seat passengers.

Oh well. It was nice to fly! I hadn’t been on a plane in almost a month!

LAS - PHX

Another good flight home. I was so exhausted from only getting a few hours of sleep, I ended up falling asleep on the plane - which if you know me, is very rare. I woke up right before we landed and was able to catch a great view of the city before the sun set.

A recap, flights and more…

I feel like I’m apologizing a lot lately for not posting… but again, here’s another apology. I have had SO much going on in my life as of late that I’m finding my spare time limited.

I’ll give you a quick recap of the past month:

  • Wedding (11/11)
  • Honeymoon (11/12-11/20)
  • Interviews (11/10, 12/10)
  • Surgery (12/8)

As for flights, I flew roundtrip to Dallas on November 10th. LAS - HOU - DAL - ELP - LAS. Then on December 10th I flew PHX - ELP - DAL - ELP - PHX… both flights were for interviews with you know who… :)

PHX - LAS 12/6

This flight was pretty monumental for me. It was my first flight without my standard benefits - but of course, went off without a hitch. I got a window seat and shared the row with a very nice lady.

LAS - PHX 12/13

I had my surgery in Las Vegas and was scheduled to come home on 12/15 - however, I was able to have my “week follow up” appointment two days early and the doctors gave me the approval to come home! Needless to say, as soon as I got the approval, I booked my flight.

There was a grand total of 15 people on my flight… I sat near the back of the plane so I had no one sitting around me. I spent the flight singing along to Drake’s new album, Take Care. Don’t worry… I made sure I wasn’t singing too loud. :)

The flight itself was nice - I don’t think we climbed any higher than 20,000ft - but then again, I’m not totally sure. We flew below the cloud line and got some good bumps on the way into Phoenix.

As I’m getting off the plane, I noticed the guy in front of me had a giant bag tag that read, “I <3 Airport Security”. Funny thing is, I noticed the bag tag before I noticed the GIANT rubber chicken hanging from the side of his bag. I wish I would’ve taken a picture of it… totally classy.

Flight 2189, 641

PHX - LAS 10/16

I caught a night flight to Vegas this time around. About one minute into flight, a gal a few rows ahead of me rang her flight attendant call button. Two flight attendants came running up to her - as I see them touching the lights above her head. Come to find out, someone had put a full thermos in the overhead compartment and it somehow opened up, leaking all of the water inside… and in turn, raining on the girls beneath it. A part of me had to laugh… and then the other part of me felt a little bad for them. They decided not to move so I’m assuming the raining effect stopped at some point.

LAS - PHX 10/17

My flight home was delayed so I got to spend some extra time with my sister. The flight itself was a little turbulent but nothing too terribly exciting. I was able to work on some homework so I didn’t have to worry about getting that done at home. When we arrived, my favorite customer service agent was working at the gate so I stopped and chatted with her for a bit.

Next flight will be in two days. Whew. I’m going nonstop this month!

Flight 602, 446

Just a quick trip for me this time!

PHX - LAS

The flight was crazy bumpy between the weather in Phoenix and Las Vegas. I’m pretty sure the girl next to me was terrified. haha The clouds were beautiful though! It got cold in the cabin… so I knew that I was in for some cold weather when we landed in Vegas. As soon as we arrived at the gate and the back door of the plane was opened, a rush of cold air hit me and made me wonder if I should’ve brought a jacket. haha

LAS - PHX

I spent some time with my mom tonight before heading to the gate. I didn’t even have to wait to get on the plane - as soon as I got there, they were boarding so I hopped on! There were only about 30 people on the plane so I went straight to the back and had the whole back of the plane to myself. Needless to say, I was free to play my air drums and air guitar.

Flight 3481, 2109

PHX - SEA 10/1

I was so thrilled to be heading to Seattle… I do love that city. I think it’s because the weather… I’ve lived in the desert most of my life so a change of climate is always nice.

My flight was great - I only got a few hours of sleep and was expecting to nap but that didn’t end up happening. I had an aisle to myself so I stretched out, read the new SPIRIT magazine and worked on some homework. We got some DELICIOUS Nabisco snack… I don’t even know how to describe it. Sweet, salty and soo yummy. I asked for another pack and the flight attendant gave me two more! I was stoked. When we landed, I got some awesome video of the air trail (not sure what it’s called?) coming from the tips of the wings.

Oh, and did I mention we were flying on Maryland One? The plane itself isn’t the prettiest to look at, but I the canoe flaps were black (instead of red) so I enjoyed getting some pictures of those.

While I was in Seattle, I spent my time with my cousin and her two-year-old son. It was his birthday, so I bought him a Mickey Mouse airplane toy. He played with it all weekend.

SEA - PHX 10/3

I asked my cousin to drop me off early so I could spend some time at this store called Fireworks in the airport. I could spend hours in that store… I’m telling you, if you have that one person that you can never find a gift for, that’s the store you’ll find something for them.

When I got to the gate to get my boarding pass, I found out that our plane was “broken” (exact words from the customer service agent… haha), so we were going to have to wait an hour and a half for another plane. I wasn’t too upset about it because it gave me the opportunity to catch some great video of planes taxiing and taking off.

The flight itself was short because, well, I slept 2 of the 2.5 hours. haha I was exhausted after the weekend so it was good to catch up on some sleep.

To top off a great weekend, when I picked up my car and went to pay for parking, the guy dropped the cost down from $27 to $12… and he gave me a full stamp card so I’ll get a free day of parking next time! Score!

Breaking News: 9/16 ‘Mass casualties’ reported after plane crashes at Nevada air show

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected by the crash today at the Reno Air Races. Read the story at CNN.com.

I used to live about a half hour away from the Stead Airport and frequently went to the Air Races. Two weeks ago, I actually inquired about flying in for the air races this year but was told not to because it’d be virtually impossible to get on a flight into Reno. As bummed as I was at the time, I’m now considering it a blessing in disguise.

I have checked in with my family and friends that live in Reno and everyone is okay.
