About

I’m your average traveler.
Well, maybe not so average… I fly pretty frequently. I'm happy when I get a good seat, frustrated when flights are delayed, and am very much appreciative of Southwest Airlines' bags-fly-free policy. I am blessed to live the life I'm living.

I have this blog because I have stories to tell, people to meet and places to visit. I’d like to share my experiences with whoever stops by!

NOTE: I am not affiliated with Southwest Airlines, I just
happen to fly them.
A lot.

Finding the best middle seat

So you’re one of the last people to board the plane – it happens. In fact, on a full flight it happens to quite a few people. And chances are there isn’t an aisle or window seat available.

Now you’re stuck with finding the best middle seat.

You probably don’t want to sit in the seat between the two guys with broad shoulders. Or next to the couple with two lap children. You’ll probably skip the seat next to the person who looks like they haven’t showered in days. And whatever you do, unless you’re the size of a super model – avoid the middle seat on the last row of the aircraft. In my humble opinion only a small child can fit into that seat.

The best middle seats are the ones in the front and middle of the aircraft.

My recommendations: Look for people who are chatting, chances are if they’re related someone will scoot over and take the middle seat. Also, if they don’t know each other but are having a good conversation, they’ll scoot over. If you have broad shoulders or long legs, look for people with the opposite of you. Leg and shoulder room is limited on flights, so the more you can get – the better.

If you get stuck finding a middle seat, just remember – you’re not going to be stuck on the plane for the rest of your life and you’ll be off the plane faster than you know it. So just sit down, take a breather, say hi to the people next to you, fasten your seatbelt and enjoy the flight.
